UTRECHT, 1 July 2008 – Strukton subsidiary Colijn Aannemersbedrijf BV has signed the contract for constructing two underpasses beneath the Den Bosch-Vught Circular Road. The principal is ProRail Infra, Spoorkruisingen & Ondergrondse Infra (railway crossings & underground infrastructure) projects. The contractual sum involved totals more than € 21 million.

The Circular Road will become the new connecting road between the A59 (Waalwijk) and A2 (Vught) motorways to the southwest of Den Bosch and will increase the city’s accessibility. Together with the connection for Vught North, this will create a closed traffic structure relieving congestion in the existing residential areas.

Colijn will start building the underpasses on 1 September. One is intended for road traffic and the other will serve as a wildlife crossing, forming an underpass for animals wanting to cross both the Circular Road and railway line.

The activities will include remediation of the soil, pouring the underwater concrete into construction pits, building the construction pits, and building and inserting the tunnel sections. Delivery is planned for the end of 2010.
