UTRECHT, 16 October 2008 – Strukton Civiel carried out the final pouring of concrete for the resurfacing of the Hollandse Bridge on Thursday, 16 October. The entire bridge is now surfaced with high-strength concrete. The Hollandse Bridge is the second bridge that Strukton Civiel has successfully reinforced. High-strength concrete was also used during the resurfacing of a bridge in Hagestein in 2006. Strukton Civiel was able to utilise the experience it gained as a result during the Hollandse Bridge project, too.

At the beginning of the project, the bridge proved to be in such a poor state of repair that it had to be closed to heavy goods traffic. Strukton Civiel acted swiftly, however, to tackle this mobility problem and come up with alternatives, including a ferry connection. The wishes of people living in the immediate vicinity and the smooth flow of traffic were also taken into account. The bridge is due for completion towards the close of the year.
