Strukton Civiel Managing Director Martijn Smitt has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Bouwend Nederland. He has replaced Jan Wierenga and represents the Infra Groot constituency. Smitt (41) has been involved in large-scale infra projects in the past, including a variety of tunnel projects, the Betuweroute and the North/South Line.
Martijn Smitt: “Bouwend Nederland asked me to take a seat on the Board – a role I gladly accepted. I am keen to make a personal contribution to the modernisation of the industry with the aim of helping resolve social issues. The government is already trying to stimulate our industry where possible. From my position as a Board member of Bouwend Nederland, I also want to stimulate the industry from the inside. Not for modernisation purposes, as modernisation is not a goal as such, but because investments in the industry are recouped twice over, even by smaller companies.”
Board and General Administrative Body
The Bouwend Nederland association has a Board and a General Administrative Body. Both represent the affiliated companies, which include large, medium-sized and small companies operating in housing and utilities construction, and infrastructure. The Board formulates the association's policy and reports to the General Administrative Body. It has eight members and is chaired by Elco Brinkman.
