UTRECHT 2 April 2007, The plant will treat 75 percent of the waste water in The Hague region. Every hour, Harnaschpolder purifies 35,800 m3 of effluent.
The realisation of the Harnaschpolder waste water treatment plant is part of the public-private partnership between the Delfland Water Board and the international Delfluent bv consortium. Delfluent has designed, built and financed (DBFO) the plant.
Furthermore, Delfluent will be responsible for the treatment during the coming thirty years.
Delfland remains responsible for purifying the waste water. With the commissioning of the Harnaschpolder plant, the first result of the PPP in The Hague region has been accomplished.
Mr. P.H. Schoute, dijkgraaf of the Delfland Water Board: "The Harnaschpolder plant took three and a half years to build. That is five months less than planned. Besides the saving in time, many costs have also been saved. This then benefits the inhabitants and the business community in region of The Hague. The innovative and daring approach of Delfland has thus borne fruit. We are therefore especially proud of the result."
Chairman and CEO of Veolia Environnement, Mr. H. Proglio: "I am convinced that the Delfland DBFO project will demonstrate the advantages of Public Private Partnerships for all parties."
