UTRECHT, 27 September 2007 – The Mayor of Coevorden, B.J. Bouwmeester and CEO Bakker of Strukton Bouw & Vastgoed this week signed on the dotted line for the construction of the new multifunctional Coevorden town hall.

The project will be executed as a Design & Build contract, which means that Strukton Bouw & Vastgoed will be responsible for both the design and construction of the new building. The design of the ‘Hof van Coevorden’ town hall created by Amsterdam-based architectural agency Rau will be erected on the Markt in the centre of Coevorden. The design emerged on top following a selection process for the new town hall.

Along with the broader population, municipal officials, a special sounding board and the municipal council all parties thought the plan put forward by Strukton Bouw & Vastgoed and Architecten RAU fitted in best with the historical centre of Coevorden.

The new town hall will also house a grand café, the Centrum voor de Kunsten (Art Centre) and a small theatre. Expectations are that construction of the ‘Hof van Coevorden’ town hall will be completed by October 2009. Preparing the new-build site on the Markt for construction is expected to commence in spring 2008.
