ÙTRECHT, 7 FEBRUARY 2008 - Strukton Rail AS, the Norwegian company of Strukton Railinfra, has acquired all shares outstanding of Betonmast Bane AS. This transaction has been effected by cash payment and transfer of shares Strukton Rail AS. After this transaction, Strukton Railinfra AS has a 66% interest and Bane Holding AS (sellers) a 34% interest in Strukton Rail AS. Strukton has been given the option to acquire this 34% interest as from 2011.
Betonmast Bane realised a EUR 15 mln. turnover in 2007 with 70 employees.
Both companies have been successfully working together for some time now. The activities will be fully integrated within Strukton Rail AS. The acquisition further strengthens Strukton’s position in the Scandinavian market. In Norway, Betonmast Bane is leading in the fields of construction and maintenance of track facilities, electric power and signalling and telecommunications in the light transport system and rail sector. Strukton will gain from the expertise and good reputation of Betonmast Bane and TEAS. The company will continue to focus on quality, safety and skills development.
The acquisition is in line with Strukton Railinfra’s ambition to acquire a top position in the Nordic countries. Strukton has been active in Sweden since 2003. The company has since realised considerable growth and currently maintains ca 2,000 kilometres of track in Sweden. Strukton put its first step in Norway with the acquisition of Jernbaneservice in 2006. The Strukton companies in Sweden and Norway have since been working closely together and offer flexible and efficient solutions for Swedish and Norwegian infrastructure managers. Recently, Strukton also won a contract in Denmark.
With the acquisition, Strukton Rail in Norway grows into an organisation with 150 employees. Strukton’s revenues in Norway are expected to amount to over EUR 30 million in 2008. The company has offices in Trondheim, Otta and Hamar as well as the head office in Lillestrøm just outside Oslo.
