UTRECHT, 27 June 2007 - During a special ceremony in Beekbergen on 26 June 2007, Strukton Railinfra officially introduced its two newly acquired locomotives. The company now has four so-called Deutz 1200 locomotives. Positive experiences with the two Deutz 1200 locomotives at projects such as the Betuwe Route made Strukton Railinfra decide to invest in two more machines of this type.
For many years now, Strukton Railinfra has been investing heavily in people and machines to realise its ambitions as a full-service provider. The company now owns an extensive fleet of machines and equipment that is used in the various European countries in which Strukton Railinfra is active. Its machines include renewal trains, ballast cleaning machines, ballast profilers, track stabilizers, packing machines, catenary equipment and locomotives.
Its various types of locomotives enable Strukton Railinfra to realise all transports required at all sites according to the customer’s desires. With their tractive effort of 950 hp, the two new locomotives are very powerful. Their capacity enables them to carry heavy work trains under all circumstances. They will therefore be particularly suitable for projects where (heavy) work trains are required.
It is tradition at Strukton Railinfra to give the locomotives women’s names. These names are always derived from Strukton Railinfra’s own staff or their family. They are the symbol for all employees who 24 hours a day put their heart and soul in their work, and for their family who supports them in doing so. The Tiny, Herma, Karin, Willy, Berta, Fransine, Anneke, Jose, Esther, Riek, Janine and Monique were already riding on the track; the Irene and Ankie have now been added, which brings the total to 14 locomotives.
Strukton Railinfra is a full-service provider of rail systems in Europe. The company is active in the fields of construction, renewal and maintenance of rail systems, including rolling stock and information and monitoring systems in addition to the traditional track and catenary systems. The company was founded in 1921 and has at present ca. 3,000 employees in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Sweden, Denmark and Norway. The turnover in the year 2006 amounted to EUR 475 mln.
