UTRECHT, 6 March 2007 – Strukton reached a definitive agreement with the shareholders of Duik Combinatie Nederland (DCN) on 5 March 2007 concerning the takeover of part of its activities and immersion equipment. The activities in question concern both the Dutch and German components of DMI Injection Techniques and the activities of immersion specialist Mergor.

Taking over these specialised techniques fits in well with the strategy pursued by the Strukton Betonbouw operating company, one of the top five players in the Dutch market for civil engineering infrastructure. “Adding these components of DCN to Strukton Betonbouw will increase our ability to respond to niche demands in the market. Additionally, Strukton sees good opportunities to achieve further growth and reinforcement of its strategic position in the market at home and abroad,” says Jos Hegeman, chairman of the board of Strukton Betonbouw.

The remaining components of DCN operating in the area of immersion technology will continue under the leadership of interim managing director Cees Barten.

One of the sections of the agreement relating to the takeover of the shares in Mergor means that Strukton will become the sole owner of Mergor, since Strukton already owned 50% of the company’s shares. In Latin, Mergor means ‘to immerse’. Mergor specialises in immersion, currently performing very well in the market in activities related to immersing tunnel segments for the North/South Line in Amsterdam, the Roer tunnel in Roermond and the Limerick tunnel in Ireland.

The activities that have been taken over will be brought under a new company named Strukton Specialistische Technieken. Former DCN managing director Chris Raijmakers will head up the new company.
