De preparation work start May 6th en consist of rerouting cables and pipes with a duration of two weeks. There may be cause to temporarily block one of the carriageways of the N226. Halfway May, Strukton starts with the preparations for the actual construction of the bicycle tunnel. The tunnel is open for horseback riders. Strukton starts with arranging a working terrain near the access route to Leersumse Veld. The closed section of the tunnel is constructed on this terrain, outside any traffic lines. The bicycle tunnel is part of the Let de Stigterpad. This is a new connection for cyclists at the southern part of the Utrecht’ Hillside with a total length of 18 kilometres. The path, named after the first chairwoman of the National Park Utrecht Hill side, Let de Stigter, connects existing bicycle roads and new possibilities for bicycle roads between the different villages.
