As a TalentGroep partner, Strukton was actively involved in the first PPP school project in the Netherlands. Tendering for the ‘Montaigne 2005’ project (a school for secondary education offering place for 1,200 students in Ypenburg) closed on 22 December 2004 with the signing of a contract. This was the first project presented in the Netherlands involving the design, construction, fitting out, maintenance, financing, and management and operation of a school within the scope of a single integrated contract. Following its construction, the school opened its doors for the first time on 30 August 2006.
This project formed part of a PPP school construction pilot programme. The Stichting Confessioneel Onderwijs Lucas, the Municipality of The Hague and the Ministries of Education, Culture & Science and Finance reached a joint decision to study whether public private partnerships (PPP) would deliver benefits in relation to school construction.
