Safety first
We keep safety a top priority with our Zero Accidents Safety Programme. This campaign was started in 2008 with a pilot using the Strukton Bouwplaatsnorm (construction site standard). This is a checklist we designed that every team member can use to evaluate the safety on the construction site and, more importantly, discuss the differences in their assessments. In this way, safety becomes a standard part of the working procedures, which leads to fewer incidents.
Safe construction site
Strukton also makes text unnecessary by depicting safety prescriptions with pictures (many different languages are spoken on the construction site). A well managed construction site contributes not only to our strive for employee safety, health and welfare, it also prevents failure costs and unnecessary loss of or damage to material and materiel and makes a reliable and professional impression on potential and existing clients as well as the surroundings.
Accident figures
Accident figures are expressed using the injury frequency (IF), which is calculated using the following formula: IF = 1,000,000 x lost-time accidents / worked hours.
In recent years, the IF was as follows:
| 2009 |
8,7 |
| 2008 |
9,0 |
| 2007 |
7,0 |
| 2006 |
11,4 |
| 2005 |
11,1 |
| 2004 |
15,8 |
Health, safety and environment policy
Strukton has laid down its vision for its health, safety and environment policy in a policy statement. This has led to another way to look at health and safety costs. The standard health and safety contract has been replaced by a contract that allows us to put more effort into prevention and to better take into account everyone’s vital necessities.
