Extension of tracks at Nieuwegein tram depot

Strukton constructs the new infrastructure and renews the existing railway infrastructure at the Nieuwegein tram depot. The project also includes the laying of cables and pipelines, realisation of the tracks for loading and unloading and the site layout for the new depot. The depot remains in service during the project.

The execution phase of the project commenced on 10 May. The planning aims to complete the entire depot siding before the autumn of 2017 when the trams for the future Uithof tram line will arrive. The tram lines served by the depot will remain in service during the project, to make sure that there will be no inconvenience for passengers.

Extension of capacity

The project aims to provide a modern home basis for the trams that will start running at the future Uithof tram line in 2018. The capacity will be extended already during the execution phase, since new trams will be arriving from the autumn of 2017. The project also includes the extension of the stalling capacity for the 37 trams that CAF will be delivering from Spain
